HP’s Latest Printer: A Game Changer for Kiwi Sign Makers

Say hello to the HP Latex R530 — the latest breakthrough in HP’s printing technology, now available through Computaleta. This powerful hybrid printer is built to revolutionise sign making in New Zealand, delivering unmatched versatility, efficiency, and sustainability in one compact package.

What makes it groundbreaking? It’s a true all-in-one solution, seamlessly printing both rigid boards and flexible self-adhesive vinyl without requiring multiple machines. For small to medium-sized businesses, this means lower costs, reduced space requirements, and increased profitability—all while maintaining the superior quality and vibrant colour output HP is known for.

If you’re looking to expand your services and stay ahead in a competitive signage industry, the HP Latex R530 is your next game-changing investment.

Versatility and Performance

The HP Latex R530 stands out for its ability to seamlessly switch between rigid and flexible applications, delivering consistent, high-quality output across various media types. This versatility allows sign makers to tap into new markets with just one machine.

Equipped with HP Gen 4 water-based Latex Inks and HP Latex White Ink, the printer ensures vibrant colours and smooth gradients, enhancing the visual appeal of printed materials.

The printer's compact hybrid design facilitates quick and easy transitions between different media types, streamlining production processes. Automatic recirculation and printhead cleaning features bolster uptime and reduce maintenance costs, keeping things running efficiently. Additionally, the single-phase power system enables effortless installation in constrained spaces, making it an ideal choice for businesses with limited room. It can fit through narrower openings as small as 161cm wide, and with folding tables retracted it is up to 50% smaller.

Sustainability Initiatives

In line with HP's commitment to environmental responsibility, the Latex R530 incorporates several sustainable features. Direct-to-rigid printing reduces waste while maintaining the recyclability of fibre-based media. The printer uses UL ECOLOGO®-certified HP Latex Inks, promoting a healthier workspace. Its design includes 25% recycled plastic, and the use of returnable extended-life maintenance cartridges supports circularity, aligning with eco-friendly business practices. And for those who didn’t know, the HP Latex ink is even manufactured using reclaimed water.

Market Reception and Availability

Since its unveiling last week, the HP Latex R530 has garnered attention for its innovative features tailored to the needs of sign makers and printers alike. Industry experts have noted that while the R530 is not the fastest printer in its category, it offers a unique combination of capabilities, particularly for shops that handle both rigid and roll media or operate in space-constrained environments.

Arlette Farland, Director of Computaleta, believes its ability to print on both rigid and roll media makes it an ideal solution for many customers:

“The R530 will be a game changer because not only is it compact, it’s also versatile. It will enable many of our customers to offer direct-to-substrate printing for the first time and we’re excited to help them expand their capabilities without a major capital investment.”

The HP Latex R530 is expected to be available globally starting April 23, 2025, and will be distributed and supported in New Zealand by trusted HP Partner, Computaleta, providing Kiwi companies with access to this versatile printing solution.
